Stop doing Training Exercises you Enjoy......

What makes you choose to do a particular exercise or drill in your training plan? Is it just because you like it, because really that is not a good enough reason on its own.

Naturally, we like to train the things we are already good at or that we enjoy doing.

This applies to football and gym sessions. We gravitate to what we are strong in but this can be counterproductive if it makes you avoid your weaknesses. If you avoid what you are bad at, you will always be bad at them. Sounds simplistic, but people often have a mindset of avoiding things they aren't good at. "I don't do pull ups, I'm terrible at them", or “I can’t cross the ball, so I don’t do it”. Well, if you know you can’t do something and it would add to your game, you should probably do them more and try to get better.

Yes, as important as it is to improve our strengths and turn them into "super strengths”, it cannot be at the cost of improving on weaker areas. So next time you pick the exercises you are going to train, ask yourself, am I doing this just because I enjoy it? Is that the most productive use of my time?
